Synopsis
This book is a memoir from the 19th century, following the early life of the author who was born into a strict Calvinist home in Western Pennsylvania where she became a devout abolitionist. The author's personal growth and experiences during her formative adolescent years are the backbone of the book. Despite being raised in an orthodox Presbyterian community, she strongly opposed slavery and dedicated years to advocating its abolition.
