Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a biography of Rev. Philip Skelton, known for his published sermons defending religion and morality. Born in Ireland in 1706, Skelton was a devout minister who became a priest despite family poverty. As a young man, he was a keen athlete and skilled in backsword fencing. He later attended Trinity College, Dublin, where he excelled academically. Skelton's uncompromising stance against immorality and vice brought him into conflict with the college provost making him a figure of some controversy. Despite these conflicts, Skelton was ordained and served as a curate in several parishes. In his later years, he became known for his charitable acts, his devotion to his parishioners, and his writings in defense of Christianity. Skelton's collected works, which include essays, sermons, and treatises on religious themes, remain a testament to his unwavering faith and commitment to spiritual enlightenment.
