Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book tells the story of Saint Vincent De Paul, a priest and the founder of several charitable organizations that aided the poor and sick. Born to a peasant family in 1576, Vincent was ordained as a priest in 1600. After being enslaved in Tunisia for two years and enduring several hardships, he returned to France and became known for his charitable work, visiting the sick and aiding the poor. In 1617, he founded the Confraternities of Charity, a group of lay people who provided assistance to the needy. He later established the Daughters of Charity, a religious order of women who dedicated their lives to serving the poor and sick. Vincent's work had a profound impact on the Catholic Church and on the development of social welfare programs, and he is considered one of the most influential figures in the history of philanthropy.
