Bernardo Ruiz Suarez is not a physiciaii. He is by profession a lawyer, and by inclination a poet. A nother feature about this interesting personality which may be surprising to people who are not accustomed to referring to a lawyer as doctor is that what appears to be his middle name is in reality his last name, as names go in the United States. The last word of the sonorous appellation which distinguishes this doctor lawyer merely indicates that in a large number of countries where women do not vote, they nevertheless enjoy the privilege, if not the obligation, of keeping their own surnames after marriage and of transmitting them to their children. This is some thing that the most advanced of feminine feminists have not secured under the Nineteenth A mend ment. All of which goes to show, if nothing else, that one-half of the world does not know how the other half lives. Mr. Ruiz has come to find out and tell how the people of the United States
