A collection of lyrical portraits and dramatic scenes that move from exile to reckoning with vivid, historical imagery.
This volume gathers the poetry of Lionel Thomas Berguer, weaving together fierce emotion, political passion, and intimate scenes of a queen’s exile and return. The poems blend historic reverie with personal voice, offering a dramatic panorama that resonates with resilience and resolve.
With bold language and striking scenes, the verses explore loyalty, power, and public memory. They invite readers to consider how a nation’s voice can shape memory, honor, and judgment across time.
Ideal for readers drawn to historical poetry, dramatic monologues, and rich, late-era verse.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is an assembly of poetic stanzas written in dedication to Queen Caroline of Brunswick. It was authored at a time when she was experiencing immense personal turmoil and upheaval in her life, and indeed these stanzas were written to be read as a direct response to the tumultuous period she found herself in. Caroline was accused of adultery against her husband King George IV (then Prince Regent). The accusations were proven unfounded and she was ultimately exonerated by the House of Lords, but not before she had been subjected to much public scrutiny and scorn. Many people of the day believed that because of her foreign birth (she was German), she was not fit to be Queen. The author of these stanzas was wholly opposed to this view and penned some very evocative and passionate poetry in her defense. The work can be seen as a compelling historical record of the era, and it provides a valuable insight into the political and social climate of the time. It also exemplifies the very personal and human story of one woman, whose strength and resilience are still relevant and inspiring today. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
