John Bunyan's timeless classic of the Christian's dangerous journey through this valley of tears has been read and loved since he first penned it while in Bedford jail for preaching the gospel. First published in 1678 it has been in print ever since. This version keeps the flavour of Bunyan s original but has been gently and skilfully updated so that it is fully accessible to the twenty-first century reader. The great Victorian preacher Charles Spurgeon said of this book: 'Next to the Bible, the book that I value most is John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress. I believe I have read it through at least a hundred times! It is a volume of which I never seem to tire; and the secret of its freshness is that it is so largely compiled from the Scriptures. It is really Biblical teaching put into the form of a simple yet very striking allegory.' This edition has been produced by EP in co-operation with Grace Gems (gracegems.org), who provided the text.
John Bunyan (1628-1688) was an English writer and nonconformist Puritan preacher best remembered as the author of the Christian allegory The Pilgrim s Progress. In addition Bunyan wrote nearly sixty titles, including other allegorical works. These include 'The Life and Death of Mr Badman' (1680), 'Pilgrim's Progress Part II', 'The Holy War' and 'Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners', a spiritual autobiography.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book tells the story of a man burdened by sin, who embarks on a journey to find salvation. The tale unfolds as a dream, and the author uses allegorical characters and settings to illustrate the struggles of the human soul on its path to spiritual redemption. The man, named Christian, encounters a variety of obstacles, including a treacherous swamp called the Slough of Despond, and is guided by figures like Evangelist and the Interpreter who offer him insights into the nature of faith and the perils of worldly temptation. The author draws on the rich tradition of Christian allegory, drawing inspiration from works like John Bunyan's own earlier work, "Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners", to explore the themes of repentance, perseverance, and the ultimately triumphant nature of faith. Written during a time of great religious upheaval, this book offers a powerful and enduring testament to the enduring power of spiritual conviction in the face of adversity.
