In the first book of the series, Blue Pete: Half Breed, it appears that Blue Pete dies, at least to the eyes of Mahon. But Blue Pete survives with the help of Mira, his wife. Since he is an outlaw, he must keep out of sight from the Mounties. In the Return of Blue Pete, Pete is trying to right the wrongs he has done by returning rustled horses. These are in the Rocky Mountains where railways are being built. There the bohunks are up to no-good and Pete wants to make sure the contractors are not harmed.
