This book is a guide to etiquette for children from an earlier time, likely the 15th century as references to the 'present day' do not extend beyond the time of its own publication in 1477. It covers a wide range of situations and scenarios which children may encounter in their daily lives, setting out the most courteous and acceptable behaviour in each case. It also includes spiritual advice and encourages children to develop a relationship with God through prayer, by attending their local church and observing holy days. It was written by a follower of the poet Lydgate, and is influenced by his style. It is written in plain language and is accessible to children by providing three versions of each stanza, one in verse, and two others giving modernized versions in prose.
