Pope Eugenius IV. having fummoned a Council to meet at the City of Balle, or, as it is more ufually called, Bafil, in Switzerland ;it accordingly met there in the Year 1431, and continued to fit for Seventeen Years, Nine Months, and Twenty-S even Days, or, according to Mr. Walpole, but Fifteen Years in the whole ;and at this Council the Pope himfelf, and after his Death his Succef Tor Anecdotes of Pamting, 8vo.
