Synopsis

New views of heaven offers a grounded look at life after death, based on evidence and careful reasoning.

This volume presents a clear picture of the world to come, focusing on how angels live, how love and order shape heavenly life, and how people grow into that life through daily choices and spiritual development. It treats heaven not as idle bliss but as a place where the will to help others guides all activity. New readers will discover:

  • How angels live by a single central love that organizes every activity.
  • What real work looks like in heaven and how it brings true happiness.
  • How character, daily choices, and gradual growth shape our eternal future.
  • Why heaven is built on divine order and practical use, not mere rewards or escapes.
Ideal for readers who want a thoughtful, accessible view of the afterlife grounded in scripture, experience, and reason.

Présentation de l'éditeur

Excerpt from New Views of Heaven: Six Lectures on the Inhabitants, Phenomena and Order of the World to Come

These Lectures are intended to illustrate the New Church philosophy of the future life. Swedenborg has said all that can be said on the subject, at least for many years to come; but he has spoken only to the student. Other writers have explained his meaning, and confirmed it by evidence from experience, nature, and the Word of God. To many of these I am indebted for some word, suggestion, hint, or illustration, and I thankfully acknowledge their help.
