Buicvoft PREFACE. THE History of the Mormons contains many strikingly interesting features; and speculation as to the probable future of the Church in the United States is being freely indulged in by those who have watched the actions of the unbelievers in regard to the Latter Day Saints. The Supreme Court has recently decided that the dissolution of the Church under the Edmund slaw was constitutional ;so that as a corporate body it has ceased to exist, and its property is to be administered by Federal officials. Those who continue to practise plural marriage are being rigorously imprisoned, and the latest revelation has caused the abandonment of the teaching of polygamy. The Gentiles are out-numbering and out-voting the Mormon dwellers in Salt Lake City.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book offers a fascinating and in-depth look at the Mormon community in the late 19th century, providing a glimpse into a world often misunderstood and misrepresented. The author, a keen observer of social and religious trends, delves into the origins and practices of Mormonism, exploring the contentious issue of polygamy, the role of women in the community, and the Church's complex relationship with the wider world. The book examines the history of persecution that Mormons faced, the political and legal battles surrounding their beliefs, and the economic and social structures they built in Utah. The author goes beyond simple description, presenting a nuanced analysis of Mormon practices and beliefs, engaging with the arguments for and against polygamy, and considering the ethical implications of the faith's tenets. The book's focus on the lives of ordinary Mormons, including their perspectives on polygamy and their experiences with the Church, gives readers a sense of the human side of this complex and often controversial faith. Ultimately, the book offers a thoughtful and engaging exploration of Mormonism, revealing the inner workings of this distinct community and challenging readers to confront their own preconceived notions about a religion often viewed with suspicion and judgment.
