Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book tells the history of Mount Holyoke Seminary, an academic institution for women founded by the eminent educator Mary Lyon in 1837. At the time of its inception, the Seminary was a radical idea. Before it came into existence, many people believed that girls did not need much education, and that what education they did receive should be focused almost solely on the arts. Lyon, however, had a different aspiration. She envisioned the Seminary as a place where women could receive a first-rate education, which would prepare them to go out into the world and make a difference. The book explores the philosophies of education that Lyon employed at Mount Holyoke Seminary, as well as the changes that the Seminary underwent throughout history. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781331900221_0
