Présentation de l'éditeur

Excerpt from An Introduction to the Study of Hypnotism: Experimental and Therapeutic

This little book is intended mainly for those who are unacquainted with hypnotism, and aims at providing the reader with sufficient knowledge, both theoretical and practical, to enable him to make use of suggestion in suitable cases.

The fact that the whole of the first edition was sold within a short time of publication encourages me to hope that it fulfilled its aim; and I trust that the present edition, which is published in response to numerous requests, may meet with an equally kind reception.

The phenomena of hypnosis are described in some detail, as I believe that a knowledge of them is essential to the practitioner who uses hypnotism, and though the various theories cannot be criticized in the space at my disposal, I have tried to bring before the reader the chief problems presented by the subject.
