Synopsis

See when events happened in the Old Testament at a glance. The Dated Events of the Old Testament presents a graphic, table‑driven chronology that lays out each event with its time relation to others, plus the dates in Christian era terms. It also explains how dates are fixed, which are conjectural, and why different scholars reach different conclusions.

This edition emphasizes practical use: you’ll learn how to read the tables, distinguish fixed dates from estimate dates, and understand the methods behind ancient timekeeping. It integrates biblical data with external historical and archaeological data to offer a grounded sense of the flow of history in the biblical narrative.

  • Clear tables showing dated events from Abraham to the close of Old Testament history, and from the close of the OT to the birth of Christ.

  • Explanations of the kinds of numbers, time words, and narrative order used in biblical chronology.

  • Guidance on how to interpret accessional years, yearly cycles, and periods that span generations.

Ideal for readers who want a structured, visual approach to biblical chronology, students of theology and history, and anyone seeking a concise reference to how Old Testament dates are assigned and compared with other ancient timelines.
