Excerpt from Theoretical Studies Concerning the Hydropulse: Ideal Mechanical Performance Characteristics
This terminology we have taken from the report of F. Zwicky: Remarks on the Basic Theory of the Hydr0pulse as a Propulsive Power Generator, Aerojet Report No. R-41 In fact, most of the work to be discussed in what follows was undertaken at the suggestion of F. Zwicky and in consultation with him. Two other reports of interest for the mechanical performance of the hydr0pulse have appeared: 1) The Solution of the Differential Equation for the Hydropulse Aerojet Report No. R-43, by K, Foelsch and Knox T. Millsaps, 2) A Preliminary Study of the Hydropulse Jet Propulsion Note No. 19, Bureau of Aeronautics Project, u.s. Naval Eng. Exp. Station, Annapolis, Md., written by Ensign L. B. Edelman. Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book offers a comprehensive analysis of the mechanics of a unique marine propulsion device that mimics a rocket engine underwater. Rooted in the work of F. Zwicky, the book presents an in-depth examination of such factors as impulse delivered per stroke, effective velocity, time of stroke, and average thrust. By presenting insightful approximate formulas and comparing them with numerical integration results, the author provides valuable data for optimizing the design and operation of these underwater propulsion systems. Through a thorough discussion of the relationships between these essential quantities and relevant parameters, this book serves as a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners seeking to enhance the efficiency and performance of marine propulsion systems that utilize underwater exhaust strokes. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
