Synopsis

An elderly King embarks on a journey from a seaside town into the French countryside, leaving behind his snowy-white hair and kind blue eyes as he searches for a meeting with the legendary Four Kings. Along his path, he encounters mysterious hags who warn him of danger, but his determination remains unshaken. As he approaches the castle, he is greeted with grandeur and respect, and the Four Kings engage in a game of checkers to decide the fate of war. The King suggests a unique plan, symbolized by a blue cross on his checker, and through skillful gameplay, he convinces the other Kings to adopt his vision for peace. However, upon returning to his homeland, the King faces betrayal and opposition from his own Nobles, led by a treacherous figure with a grey beard. Despite his efforts to explain the Covenant that could end war, the King is accused of treason and ultimately crucified on a hill. His death sends shockwaves through the land, and his legacy becomes a haunting reminder of the fragility of peace and the enduring power of sacrifice. This book explores the themes of betrayal, resilience, and the timeless struggle for peace, providing a thought-provoking meditation on the human condition and the enduring power of hope.
