Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book explores the diffraction of a plane wave by a semi-infinite unidirectionally conducting screen. The author reduces the problem to the determination of a single scalar wave function. This wave function is then obtained explicitly in terms of functions associated with the diffraction by a perfectly conducting half plane. A simplified far field representation is found, and the solution is supported by an existence proof. The author shows that the idealization employed by Toraldo di Francia, whose work laid the groundwork for this study, is valid. The resulting solution is defined by a set of equations and asymptotic representations of the solution valid for large distances are indicated. The insights presented in this book on the diffraction of a plane wave by a unidirectionally conducting half-plane are significant for their contribution to the field of electromagnetics, as they provide a deeper understanding of the behavior of electromagnetic waves in the presence of such screens, enhancing our capability to design and optimize electromagnetic devices and systems.
