This book presents a new expansion theorem for defining the negative Laplacian acting on functions equated to zero for a perturbed semi-infinite cylinder in N-dimensional Euclidean space. The theorem serves to describe solutions for the negative Laplacian. Functions are constructed to define the theorem, which are expressed by the sum of a plane wave and either an outgoing or incoming wave. These are shown to form a complete, orthogonal set of generalized eigenfunctions for specific types of perturbed cylinders. The author also determines there can be at most a finite number of linearly independent generalized eigenfunctions associated with any real number and extends their results to include cases where eigenvalues are present. In total, this book offers a significant contribution to the understanding of expansion theorems and their application to defining solutions to the negative Laplacian.
