Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents valuable insights into predicting flood patterns through computational techniques. The author explored mathematical equations that represent real-world conditions of flowing water. The intent was to apply these mathematical models to predict flood conditions in rivers like the Mississippi and Ohio. The mathematical basis for solving flow problems in rivers is laid out and the author sought to create a computational method that could be applied to actual rivers by using a digital computer. The author tested the method with three separate river models that were simplified versions of actual rivers. The equations and other empirical data needed to fix the coefficients of the differential equations were derived from cross-sections, measurements of river depths and discharges, and drainage areas. The numerical solution presented by the author for a flood wave in a model of the Ohio demonstrated the mathematical model to be an effective approach to flood-wave prediction that can be used as a practical method. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781332170821_0
