Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book explores plasma diffusion and relaxation in compressible plasmas. The author presents a theory of low-level turbulence in such plasmas with disparate scales between mean fields and fluctuations enabling the use of multiscale asymptotic methods. This allows for the derivation of conservation laws, important factors in the functional form of the turbulent diffusivity coefficients, and the conclusion that turbulent heat conductivity acts like its molecular counterpart, transporting heat opposite to the mean temperature gradient. Turbulent resistivity, on the other hand, acts non-classically, causing current profile flattening. Using viscous, fluid flow as a special example, the author demonstrates that turbulent viscosity simply enhances molecular viscosity.
