This book is a detailed actuarial report of a life insurance company's financial and mortality experience over fifteen years, from its founding in 1843 until 1858. By analyzing data from the company's own experience and from other sources, this report demonstrates a more favorable mortality experience than the Actuaries or Experience Table, which was developed from data collected from multiple life insurance companies. The author of this report makes a case for more American companies collecting and sharing data in order to create more accurate life tables from which to better calculate rates for customers in the United States. The book concludes by positing a modification to the traditional dividend system which would allow the company to compensate for any rate discrepancies and ensure a more equitable distribution of funds to policyholders.
