Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book explores the diffusion of outsourcing in information technology infrastructure and its impact on organizational governance. IT outsourcing has become a significant governance innovation in recent years, whereby companies transfer ownership or decision rights over their IT infrastructure to external vendors. The author examines the sources of influence underlying the diffusion process of outsourcing as an administrative innovation, using a longitudinal approach and nonlinear estimation methods. The findings suggest that internal influence, or imitative behavior, is a more dominant force in the adoption of outsourcing than external influence, particularly after the widely-publicized Kodak-IBM outsourcing contract. This study contributes to the empirical stream of research on IT governance by providing a comprehensive analysis of the diffusion pattern of outsourcing and its implications for understanding organizational change within the context of IT strategy. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
