Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book sets out to establish that philosophy as we know it has vanished from Europe. The author acknowledges that contemporary society favors the positive and the trivial, despising or ignoring that which is not palpable or chimerical. The author seeks to revive an old, supposedly dead doctrine deemed irrelevant by our sages, even unworthy of exciting the ire of its detractors. Yet the author insists that this apparent cadaver is more alive than those who perform its obsequies. The doctrine presented here is new, yet it perfectly accords with an ancient doctrine, long thought extinct: metaphysics. The text is divided into two books: one doctrinal, the other historical. The first book establishes that Europe has no real philosophy today and provides the reasons for this decline. The author then proposes what they believe to be appropriate remedies for philosophy's restoration. The second book consists of a historical analysis of the main philosophical systems, beginning with the most ancient schools. A historical verification of the principles presented is seen as especially useful, as the principles should explain and account for the truth or falsity of each system. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
