Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a series of essays, largely satirical in tone, that provide a profound insight into the political, social and economic challenges faced by Ireland during the early 18th century. The author skewers the ruling class, especially the absentee landowners who profited from their status while leaving their homeland to decline. Keenly observant of the masses, the author laments the plight of the poor and offers suggestions for how their lives might be improved. This collection of essays, while not without a certain grimness, is an indispensable resource for anyone seeking to understand 18th-century Ireland and the issues of poverty and class conflict that persist in society to this day. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781332596034_0
