Excerpt from An Oral Debate on the Coming of the Son of Man, Endless Punishment, and Universal Salvation
Our propositions are such as all men are deeply interested in, and such as will cause every man to take his stand, either on the one hand or the other. All our propositions bear up on one great question, viz: Can man do anything in this life that will efiect his condition in any way after death 7 The gentleman who is my opponent on this occasion, does not believe he can, while I most solemnly believe that man's happiness in the world to crime, will depend upon his conduct in this life. While it will be his settled purpose, to maintain the doctrine, that disobedience to the gospel of Jesus Christ in this life, can do him no good in that world, it will be my settled purpose to show that our eternal weal or too depends on our conduct in this life.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book delves into a theological debate surrounding the nature of Christ's second coming and its implications for the fate of humanity. The author presents a compelling and insightful discussion on the nature of God's judgment, the role of the gospel, and the potential for both eternal salvation and damnation. The book's focus on the future of humanity, particularly the idea of an eventual judgment and its implications for personal conduct, places it within the larger historical and literary context of debates on eschatology and the nature of faith. The book explores contrasting viewpoints on the implications of Christ's second coming, examining the opposing arguments of those who believe in universal salvation and those who believe in eternal punishment. This engaging and thought-provoking exploration delves into the very essence of religious faith, prompting readers to critically examine their own beliefs and understand the different interpretations of scripture that have shaped religious thought over centuries. The book's exploration of the contrasting perspectives on the second coming provides valuable insights into the enduring power of these theological debates and their ongoing impact on religious communities.
