Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents a comprehensive review of steel standards as adopted by the American Branch of Committee No. 1 of the International Association for Testing Materials between 1895 and 1903. It includes the text of the proposed American Standard Specifications for steel castings, axles, forgings, tires, rails, and structural steel, along with a critical review by a member of the committee of the reasons which governed the Committee in its decisions. The book sets out to detail a set of minimum standards for the steel industry, with a focus on the chemical and physical properties of steel products. With an eye toward future developments in metallurgy, the author takes a conservative approach, specifying only requirements that are essential at the time of publication. The book highlights the early collaboration between engineers and manufacturers in the United States, and positions their joint work within the larger movement to standardize steel specifications for international trade. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N de rf. du vendeur 9781332773107_0
