Excerpt from A Manual Greek Lexicon of the New Testament
The need of a new greek-english Lexicon of the New Testament will hardly be questioned. Thay'er's monumental work, deservedly the standard for more than thirty years past, and, supplemented by later literature, still likely to remain a standard of reference for some time to come, was rather too bulky to serve as a table companion to the New Testament for the average man. A smaller book, which would lend itself more readily to constant reference, has been a real and growing want for the student.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating world of the Greek language as it was used in the New Testament during a pivotal period in history. The author highlights the significance of recent discoveries, such as a large number of non-literary papyri, which have shed light on the everyday language spoken by people in the Greek-speaking world at the time the New Testament was written. This linguistic exploration challenges previous assumptions about the language of the New Testament, demonstrating that it was not a unique dialect of Jewish Hellenists but rather the common language of the time. The author meticulously examines the vocabulary and diction of the New Testament, drawing comparisons with classical Greek, the Septuagint, and other relevant sources. Through careful analysis and insightful commentary, the book explores the nuances of meaning and usage of key New Testament words, providing a deeper understanding of the text's historical and cultural context. The author's exploration of the Greek language provides valuable insights into the world of the New Testament, enriching our understanding of its message and its enduring significance.
