HE aim of this Introduction is to give a general account of the critical problems which concern the Hexateuch as a whole, with a view to a more complete treatment than would otherwise be possible, and in order to avoid repetitions in the Introductions to the separate books. The special problems connected with each book will be dealt with in the separate commentaries.
