Q} 1867 (october 9 - Charles Smith, Esq. (the oldest merchant in Newcastle), died at his residence, Saville Row, newcastle-ou-tyne, Bat the patriarchal age of 95 years and 7 months. Up to the last his faculties were unclouded, and he quietly slumbered away, free from pain or suffering. Mr. Smith was a gentleman remarkably well informed on almost every topic. His commercial and business qualifications Were of a very high order, and his knowledge and advice were always at the service of those who required them.
