Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a handbook for learning the Wisa dialect, a Bantu language spoken by a scattered and broken tribe in the central region of Northern Rhodesia. While not wanting in individual energy and intelligence, the tribe has not been able to latterly maintain its ground against its more warlike neighbours, and is much mixed up with Senga and Nkunda villages in some of the lowland districts. Hence there is a certain amount of local variation in Wisa vocabulary and pronunciation, but the dialect generally shows a close connection with those of the Congo river region. The author's aim has been to show the strong family likeness of Wisa to other Bantu dialects as well as its chief peculiarities, and he presents the tense-system, which is of great interest and complexity, in particular detail. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781332933693_0
