Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a study of the deformations of perforated cylindrical elastic shells that are subjected to surface and boundary forces. The presence of a hole alters the distribution and magnitudes of stresses within the shell. The author proposes a numerical method to determine the stresses and displacements in the shell, and discusses the computational methods required to apply the method. The numerical results indicate that the stresses are large near the corners of the rectangular cutout. These high stresses may have slowed convergence of the iterative procedure. The author concludes that for problems with smoother cutouts, the method may be more efficient. Overall, this book provides valuable insights into the complex stresses and deformations of perforated cylindrical shells, and will be of interest to researchers and engineers working in the field of shell structures.
