These proposed changes include the ability for the association to establish branches, accept money on fixed or floating deposit, abolish the distinction between members and shareholders, empower the directors to fix the rate of interest on trust funds, provide for one-fifth of the annual profits to be added to the Reserve Fund, provide for the nomination of Auditors fourteen days before election, and give the association the power to amalgamate with a company or companies carrying on similar business. The author articulately presents these proposed changes to the Act following a meeting of shareholders and members of the association as well as a meeting with the directors. The significance of these changes is to enhance the association's ability to carry out its mission of administering and settling estates in South Africa.
