The sale of tliis Book is enormous. 20,000 copies have been sold within the last two years, equal to twenty ordinary editions, and still the sale rapidly increases. The last editipn, the eleventh, having beea sold, a new edition, the twelfth, is now published. In this Edition I have little to add, and nothing to alter; indeed, the present is almost a facsimile impression of the previous one. The Book, as experience has proven, was much needed, and has supplied a want which had long been felt; hence, as a medical work, its marvellous and unprecedented success.
