Excerpt from The Management of Geese and Turkeys
Turkeys of this colour are occasionally seen on the Continent of Europe, but nowhere are they bred at all extensively. I know of no one in England who keeps them, and I believe they are very rarely seen in the United States. Their beauty is apparently their chief characteristic, as, although they attain a fairly large size, their edible qualities are said to be not quite all that is desirable. As layers I believe they are fairly good.
