As it would have been the height of fo Uyand presumption to bring out what professed to be an original view of Plato side by side with Mr. Grotes, the Essay was laid by, and Mr. Grote sbook repeatedly perused. The Writer has, however, seen no reason to change his views. The text has accordingly been left unaltered; and Mr. Grote sopinions will be noticed in the Notes.
