Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book tells the captivating story of St. Francis's first Franciscan convent at Rivotorto, a vital site in the history of the Franciscan Order. It traces the story of the site, from its humble origins as a conveniently placed abandoned hut to the establishment of a substantial religious house, considered by many to be the true birthplace of the Franciscan Order. The author presents a lively and nuanced account of the early days of the Franciscan Order, showing how it developed from a small band of followers into an organised group of friars. Drawing on the experiences of the early Franciscans at Rivotorto, the author explores the nature of religious life, and the role of the friars within society. Their commitment to poverty, chastity, and obedience was central to their mission to preach the Gospel to the poor and outcast, paving the way for a major reform movement within the Catholic Church of the time. The book is an ideal introduction to the life and work of St. Francis, and to the origins of one of the most influential religious orders in the Western world. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781333268879_0
