Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is an account of a three-day conference held in North Carolina to establish an association for the betterment of rural public schools. It includes reports from county organizations and speeches from educators and government representatives given during the conference. The author provides a detailed picture of the state of education in rural North Carolina in the early 1900s. The accounts of the conference's participants reveal the challenges faced by rural schools, including inadequate funding, lack of resources, and poorly trained teachers. However, the book also highlights the determination and commitment of the people involved in the conference to improve the educational opportunities for children in rural areas. The text provides insight into educational reform efforts at the turn of the 20th century and the challenges and successes of such efforts. This book will be of interest to scholars studying the history of education in the United States and to anyone interested in the challenges and opportunities facing rural education today.
