This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book explores the complexities of the Church of Christ, delving into the concept of an "invisible church," comprised of those united to Christ through faith and love, and a "visible church," defined by its external organization and ordinances. The author grapples with the implications of these two distinct yet interconnected ideas, arguing that they are often misunderstood and misused, leading to confusion and even harmful consequences. The book delves into the nature of obedience owed to Christ as head of the Church, examining the different forms of authority he holds: as priest and intercessor, teacher, and lawgiver. The author explores the extent and degree of obedience required of believers, emphasizing the importance of understanding Christ's intentions in his teachings and commandments. Sincerity, the author argues, is an essential element of true obedience, but it should not be misinterpreted as a justification for uncritical acceptance of any belief or practice. By carefully defining the roles and responsibilities of both the invisible and visible Church, the author seeks to reconcile seemingly conflicting ideas and provide a clear framework for understanding the church's structure and function. The book offers a nuanced perspective on the relationship between individual believers and the institutions of the Church, ultimately advocating for a balanced approach that recognizes both the authority of Christ and the importance of external structures in fostering Christian life and faith.
