The author generalises a previously developed method for studying the diffraction of scalar waves, allowing for a straightforward development of the current density on the disc at high frequencies. The main complication arises from solving three simultaneous linear equations for three constants that occur in the solution method. Detailed calculations are provided for a normally incident plane wave, with only two integral equations needing to be solved. The asymptotic solution of one and the other are derived in separate sections of the book. The constants involved are chosen so that the field behaves in a certain way near the edge of the disc. A general formula for the scattering coefficient is derived and evaluated for high frequencies. The book concludes with additional calculations carried out in appendices, with references to equations in these appendices written in the form (A1), meaning equation (1) of Appendix A.
