Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents the full declaration by the Inter-Allied Labour and Socialist Conference in London, 1918. Following the outbreak of World War I, socialists and labor parties of various Allied nations met to discuss the aims of their continued support of the war. Beginning with a denunciation of the war's origins, the socialists agreed that German imperialism, with Austria-Hungary as its tool, bore full responsibility for inciting the conflict. The socialists denounced the German Social Democrats for supporting the war and rejected any attempts to portray the conflict as a struggle between capitalist interests. Instead, the conference positioned the war as a fight between democracy and autocracy. The text outlines the conference's goals for the postwar world, including a League of Nations, democratic self-determination for oppressed peoples, and international disarmament. The conference believed that these aims were both just and necessary to prevent future wars.
