Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a record of 293 nominal species and subspecies of ophiuroids housed in major collections in the United States. The author examined over 600 type specimens to provide corrections and designate lectotypes where necessary. This catalog is part of a projected series of five, one for each class of recent echinoderms. This book marks the second of the series, following the volume on the Asteroidea. It includes photographs and detailed descriptions of type specimens to aid researchers who wish to compare type material with specimens they collect. The catalog also includes information on the distribution of the species listed and provides insight into the historical and current research on ophiuroids.
