This book completes the venerable series of New American Music Readers, a methodology for elementary and secondary music education founded upon the author's direct experience and the best practices of leading supervisors of music in this country and in Europe. This concluding volume, Book 4, is particularly characterized as a book of song, designed to interest and stimulate pupils in the upper grammar years, 7th and 8th, as well as those in the lower high school grades. It seeks to provide a solid musical foundation for all students. The work in this volume may largely consist of the sight reading of songs, ranging from unison to four-part arrangements. The author has included an ample provision for the changing and changed voice and the introduction of the bass clef, treated in a new and logical way.
