This book records the proceedings of the Thirtieth Annual Meeting of the Raleigh and Gaston Railroad, which was held in Raleigh, North Carolina, on October 7, 1880. The presented topics include the report of the Standing Committee on Proxies, the Treasurer's report, the report of the Inspection Committee, and the report of the President and Board of Directors. The Inspection Committee observed the roadway condition as passable, and the track in excellent shape. The rolling stock and engines are reported as operational and cared for. The report of the President and Board of Directors showed that receipts were above those of the previous year, but an increase in expenditures kept profits lower than expected. The report also detailed the ongoing construction of a railroad connecting Raleigh to Henderson, and the impact of the connection to the Raleigh and Augusta Air Line Railroad on through traffic.
