During this time, there was a decline in lake trout and whitefish populations which forced fishermen to explore other methods to continue supporting a profitable fishing industry. The author provides a detailed account of six fishing cruises as well as information on the gear and methods that were used during the ten-year period. Analysis of the catches reveals that a limited commercial trawl fishery could be supported and provides insight into the impact of fishing on lake trout populations.
