Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book narrates the efforts of US military chaplains to support a Tokyo seminary from its wartime closure in 1945 to the 1960s. After WWII, the seminary faced challenges reopening, including a lack of basic supplies for its students. US military chaplains, including Chaplain Ivan Bennett, recognized the seminary's plight. The chaplains collected supplies and funds to help the seminary resume classes. Their support continued with the creation of the Ivan L. Bennett Scholarship Fund, expanding the seminary's capacity to support its students. The fund's success led to Operation Centurion, a collaboration between military and civilian groups to raise funds for the seminary. This book highlights the transformative power of collaboration between religious and military communities in rebuilding institutions and fostering education amidst post-war challenges.
