Excerpt from Genealogical Data Respecting John Pickering of Portsmouth, N. H. And His Descendants
Constant professional duties have greatly interfered with his at tempts to render this Genealogy more extensive. It is believed, how ever, that it is sufficiently definite as to the trunk and main and many auxiliary branches of the New Hampshire Pickering Tree, to enable most persons, now living of the race, to trace their lineage. That some errors may exist in it, is possible, for it is rare for any genealogy to be perfect, even when prepared by one of the immediate members of the family represented by it.
