From the Preface:"Most history of New England witchcraft written since 1760 has dishonored the dead by lavish imputations of imposture, fraud, malice, credulity, and infatuation; has been sacrificing past acts, motives, and character to skepticism regarding the sagacity and manliness of the fathers, the guilelessness of their daughters, and the truth of ancient records. Transmitted accounts of certain phenomena have been disparaged, seemingly because facts alleged therein baffle solution by to-day's prevalent philosophy, which discards some agents and forces that were active of old. The legitimate tendency of culture has been reversed; what it should have availed itself of and honored, it has busied itself in hiding and traducing. An exception among writers alluded to is the author of the following extract, who, simply as an historian, and not as an advocate of any particular theory for the solution of witchcraft, seems ready to let its works be ascribed to competent agents."
This collection of literature attempts to compile many classics that have stood the test of time and offer them at a reduced, affordable price in an attractive volume so that everyone can enjoy them.

This book delves into the historical events of the Salem Witch Trials, offering a fresh perspective on the motivations and beliefs that fueled this dark chapter in American history. By examining primary sources and long-forgotten accounts, the author sheds light on the social, cultural, and religious context that shaped the understanding of witchcraft in 17th-century New England. The author challenges the prevailing theories that attribute the witch trials solely to fraud, deceit, and mass hysteria. Instead, the book explores the possibility that individuals involved, both accusers and accused, may have possessed unique sensitivities and psychological abilities, making them susceptible to unseen forces and influences. This exploration extends beyond the visible events, delving into the realm of the psychological and spiritual to offer a more nuanced understanding of the era's complex dynamics. This book invites readers to reconsider the individuals involved in the Salem Witch Trials, not as villains or victims of delusion but as participants in a historical drama shaped by the beliefs and limitations of their time. The author's insights into the psychological and spiritual dimensions of the events offer a compelling reinterpretation of this infamous period, demonstrating that within the darkness of the past lie valuable lessons about human nature, belief, and the enduring power of the unseen.
