Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book reproduces an exhortation for financial contributions to support preachers in Lancashire, written by George Walker, a prominent 17th-century clergyman, circa 1641. The author provides striking insights into the religious and social conditions of the time, tackling important issues surrounding the maintenance of faith. Walker was concerned that a decline in religious observance was caused by a lack of well-educated preachers and called upon wealthy patrons to support them. This book provides a valuable resource for religious historians seeking a better understanding of the Reformation and the role of the clergy in society.
