Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book provides a theoretical investigation into the nature of the electromagnetic field radiated by a specific type of antenna. The antenna consists of two horizontal coils placed parallel to each other and driven with opposing currents. A detailed calculation is carried out to determine the field intensity at a point in space, taking into account the dimensions of the coils, their spacing, and the distance to the point of observation. The results are expressed in terms of the current, frequency, distance, and the angle between the line joining the point to the coils and the vertical line through the coils. The book also examines the current induced in a coil aerial and in an open antenna oriented in a known manner at a sufficient distance from the transmitter. It is found that for coil reception the current received is proportional to various factors including the number of turns in both coils, the distance between them, and the wavelegnth used. For open antenna reception, a similar proportionality is found, with the length of the antenna and the angle it makes with the transmitted wave also playing a role. The book concludes by discussing the significance of these results for the design and use of such antennas in applications such as aircraft landing guidance systems.
