Jeremiah’s message shifts faith from outward ritual to inward devotion, and this concise study explains why it matters.
This book explores the prophet’s role in shaping a spiritual life that centers on God’s will within the heart. It links Jeremiah’s vision to the broader idea of the new covenant and shows how this emphasis influenced later Christian thought. Grounded in the biblical narrative, the work traces how centralized worship and the growing idea of a revealed writing changed temple life, priestly power, and the place of prophecy. It presents a thoughtful account of the challenges and breakthroughs that accompanied a major shift from form to spirit, and it shows how these themes echo through Jesus and the New Covenant.

Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is an examination of the book of Jeremiah in the Bible. It begins by introducing the author as a man first, then as a writer, and highlights the differences between man and book, and between what he did and what he wrote. It discusses how the book was written during the lifetime of the author, then further edited and expanded after his death by Baruch. It also takes a deep dive into the tumultuous times Jeremiah lived and prophesied in, identifying three different political groups in the kingdom of Judah, and discusses their positions regarding foreign powers, particularly Egypt and Babylon. It continues by asserting that a great feeling of relief pervaded Judah as it appeared that Babylon was on the rise and would soon possess the power and prestige of Assyria. It was a kind of Indian summer for Judah as it reached its highest point of prosperity. The book goes on to describe Jeremiah's sharp disagreements with the king and his advisors, and his preference for submission to Babylon over playing politics with Egypt, a position that led to his isolation and persecution. Yet, despite all these hardships, Jeremiah never lost his faith in God or his love for his countrymen. He chose to remain with his own people, faithful to the last only to perish at their hands. The book concludes by saying that his counsels of submission were regarded by the Babylonians as a sign of friendliness and, when the last company was taken captive, he had an opportunity to go to Babylon and be well treated. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
